The Professional Master's course of the Postgraduate Program in Science and Mathematics Teaching (PPGECM) aims to provide continued training to qualified professionals to exercise advanced professional practice and transform procedures in the teaching of Science or Mathematics Education, seeking to meet social, organizational or professional demands and the job market. As a consequence, the insertion of scientific and technological education in all spaces of formal and non-formal education, as well as for its continuous and critical reflection. In this sense, the aim is to offer a critical view of teacher training in undergraduate courses, providing an opportunity to review objectives, curricula and programs. Therefore, the PPGECM Professional Master's course deepens the discussions and thinking about teacher training as a continuous process, which supports the development of a broad and critical vision in relation to the teaching of Sciences (Biology, Physics and Chemistry) and Mathematics, developing systematic and interactive actions between areas at a national and international level, in order to provide conditions for approaching and developing themes, projects and educational products from an interdisciplinary perspective.

Candidate profile: 

Entrants to the PPGECM Professional Master's course must present a long-term course (full degree) recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC), in Biological Sciences, Physics, Mathematics or Chemistry, as well as holders of a full-term university diploma in other areas, which prove knowledge in the areas of Biology, Physics, Mathematics or Chemistry, through teaching in any of these areas in a public or private school and professionals who work in non-formal or informal contexts of teaching. The course is aimed primarily at Basic Education teachers (Elementary and Secondary) in public or private schools.
